Q: Can I polish any type of concrete?
A: Yes! Many homeowner are finding that using concrete as contertops and then polishing and staining them is a less expensive way to get a Marble like appearance and shine for less. Patio, side walks, garage floors, pool decks all can be ground, polished and acid stained to your design specifcations.
 
Q: How do I clean and maintain a polished, stained concrete surface.
A: Routine dusting to remove dirt, grit, sand will then need to be followed with mopping with a damp mop using a neutral cleaner to bring out the shine. There are commercial cleaners on the market for polished concrete that will clean and leave a dirt resistant film. Also applied with a mop after cleaning. With basic cleaning, routinely, the polish concrete will keep its shine and luster for years. It may dull over the years due to high traffic, but can easily be buffed with a commercial polishing compound to bring it back to the original shine.
 
Q: Are polished concrete floors slippery?
A: Clean and dry, polished concrete floors are usually no more slippery than plain concrete surfaces, and they tend to be less slippery than polished Marble or other stone. In a public application of special additives can be done to improve traction and make wet surfaces safer. These, however must be re applied periodically.
